Basic Cooking Instructions

Stove-top Cooking Instructions:

  1. Rinse thoroughly with cold water and drain.

  2. Bring 3 1/2 cups water or stock to a boil. Add a pinch of salt.

  3. Stir in 1 cup uncooked Wild Rice, reduce heat and simmer, covered 20-25 minutes or just until kernels puff open.

  4. Uncover and fluff with a fork and simmer an additional 5 minutes. Drain off any excess liquid and serve.

    Yields 3 to 4 cups.

InstaPot Cooking Instructions:

  1. Rinse thoroughly with cold water and drain.

  2. Add 2 1/2 cups liquid and 1 cup rinsed rice to Instapot.

  3. Cook on High pressure for 11 minutes for an al dente texture, 12 minutes for a softer texture.

  4. Quick-release, drain excess liquid and serve.


Instead of water, the following can be substituted:

  • Chicken, beef or vegetable stock

  • Bone broth for added protein

  • Miso broth

  • Cinnamon stick and whole cloves added to lightly salted water.
